I’m a children’s book illustrator who loves drawing, reading, and just about any kind of ice cream. I work both digitally and traditionally, but gouache has my heart. I live in Portland, Oregon with my partner and our three kids, where life is always full of color and little moments worth sketching.

My work is bright and expressive deeply inspired by the colors of my Mexican heritage. I love creating characters with real personality and heart, and I hope all kids can see pieces of themselves in the worlds I make. I’m inspired by artists like Mary Blair and by the everyday magic that shows up in childhood. Rainy days, a quiet studio, and Sam Cooke usually help, too.

I gravitate toward projects with heart... stories that are playful, culturally rich, and full of feeling. Recent clients include HarperCollins, Penguin Random House, Thomas Nelson, Sleeping Bear Press, Little Brown, Albert Whitman, Capstone Press, Razorbill, and Two Lions Publishing.
